Maintain Your Own Content

We understand that the vast majority of our client's want a modern, easily navigable website, which they can maintain themselves. Thinking Arts provide you with an easy to use online content management system that allows you to edit, alter and update all the pages on your website.

There are two main types of editable pages - Display Pages and Database Driven Pages

A display page is typically made up of text, images, and links to other pages (internal or external) or to downloadable files (such as PDFs) You can easily add, modify or delete any of this content using the administration system's Display Page Editor. A typical examples of a display page is the About Us page.

The display page editor is a simple WYSIWYG editor, with an interface which will be familiar to anyone who has used a tool such as Word or Open Office. Unlike a form based record, a display page can have a more flexible and varied layout, and can contain embedded style information, (for example making text bold, creating a heading or aligning a picture or graphic). Changes to pages can be saved as drafts, and previewed in the application, before they are applied to the main website.

You can see an example of the Display Page Editor in the image below:

Some types of information are best organised in a database. Lists of members, events, products etc. can then be sorted, retrieved and modified with ease, using the search facilities on the website or in the admin system. The Thinking Arts database, like everything else in the CMS, is easy to use and maintain.

Many of our clients have stopped using offline databases and run their entire organisation from the online database - not only do they find it easy to use and maintain, they also have access to all their information wherever there is an internet connection. However, if you prefer to continue using an offline database (such as Microsoft Access or Excel), you can export and import files in and out of the system using tab or comma delimited files.

You can see an example of a record from a PRODUCT Table in the image below:

As well as the comprehensive editing facilities outlined above, you can also:

  • Make a complete backup of the whole site with a couple of clicks
  • Download database tables in CSV format (which Excel etc. can import)
  • View statistics on visitor numbers and behaviour
  • Upload images, files and documents
